The Best Places to Study at Penn State
Apparently you're expected to take time from all the stuff going on at
college to study. Unless your roommate is completely silent, you have sworn
off IM and your neighbors are absent, you’re going to have a difficult time
getting actual studying done in your own room. As a result, you will have
to seek out alternative study spots, and there are some good ones. When the
studying just ain’t happening, the Daily
Jolt’s QuadRiot is a great source of procrastination because sometimes
you need to go away to come back. In the mean time here are some great places
to cram!
- Floor Study Room: Got serious work to do? Try your floor's
study lounge. No AIM profiles to check, no Myspace (if you can survive),
no ringing phones, and no TV. It's not fun in there, but believe in it,
you'll get your work done. The one risk is that you will slip back into
your room.
- The Library: Wait really? People study in the library?
YES, especially when you have to really cram for finals. Pick and choose
from this list;
one has to meet your fancy.
- Singles Room: There are many singles rooms spread around
campus. Chances are you will make a lot of friends your first year, a
lot of which will have different schedules from you. If you have a particularly
annoying roommate or are not able to study in your room, go to a friend's
single and try to study there.
- The Quad: The quad is a great place to find a lovely
little grass spot to plot down on and read. Not the most productive spot
on campus, but maybe the most enjoyable way to study. You won't feel like
you're wasting a gorgeous day sitting inside studying. Bring a blanket
and you can enjoy a nice spring day and study at the same time. Just watch
out for the Frisbees.
- Tutoring center: The Tutoring Center has a lot of benefits
and in the end you’ll probably write a paper really good. Did that sentence
look right to you? If so, you may need to visit the writing center for
a little help. Of course, even the best writers can always use improvement.
- The Café: So Penn State has a lot of different locations
and a lot of different cafes. Your school has one! So go grab a bagel
and a cup of coffee, sit your butt in a chair, and open that book of yours.
Ignore the good looking people walking around you. You must ignore them!
