Staying in touch with people can be difficult in college. Instant Messaging is great, but your parents might not be so computer-savvy. And, you'll probably have one friend who just isn't on IM all the time (strange, we know). Believe us, you don't want your folks yelling at you because, "You never call home!" Nor do you want your family calling you on a Saturday night when you're partying with your friends. Here are some little things you can do to keep in touch with your parents and friends, wherever they might be:

• Send pictures of your room when it's all pretty after you've moved in
• go to one of the PSU web cams listed here and wave to mommy or daddy!
• Leave a card to your roommate on his/her birthday in your mailbox
• Send a postcard to younger siblings/parents of kids you used to baby-sit
• Take your laptop to the dining hall and have a long distance lunch date via instant messenger with your parents/sibling/friend back home/friend at another school

• Bring home a Pennsylvania souvenir
• Buy your family PSU sweatshirts
